Young footballers from New Tupton Ivanhoe F.C. U8s Gold have just returned from a week-long football tour in Albufeira, Portugal, an unforgettable experience that’s shown the power of grassroots football to create life-changing opportunities.

The tour, which ran from the 13th to 20th, saw the team take part in training sessions, competitive matches, and cultural exchanges, all while flying the flag for Derbyshire grassroots football abroad.

A major highlight was working with Brazilian coach Felipe Ponte Mujica, who ran two expert coaching sessions. The team also enjoyed a fantastic football camp hosted by the Vilamoura Sports Academy, training and bonding with children from different countries.

On the pitch, the boys played three friendly matches against Portuguese sides Louletano, Vilamoura, and Padernense Clube, gaining valuable experience, building confidence, and making memories that will last a lifetime.

Off the pitch, the trip was packed with team bonding and fun for both players and parents.
