Nick Wall, one for our coaches, sadly lost his fight with Cancer in August. Nick was football mad and his funeral in early September was a celebration of his life and the colours of the teams he loved Chesterfield F.C and New Tupton Ivanhoe F.C. 

Dave Hoult, secretary of New Tupton Ivanhoe F.C. shares his memories of Nick and his passion for grassroots football. 

“Nick Wall was one of our own. Nick and his son Zane were inseparable and shared a passion for football. Nick changed colours a few times firstly the red of Man Utd, then the blue of Chesterfield together with the black and gold of New Tupton Ivanhoe fc. 

I would describe Nick once again with colours. He was black and white ‘a spade is a spade type of man.’  

Nick was a truly lovable man who passionately coached the kids in the team. He cared so much about our grassroots club. Before he became too ill to attend games and events he was always one of the first to arrive at 5.30 am to set up on tournament days and was ever present attending games on a Saturday and training in the week. 

He was one of the few men I knew that fully understood what grassroots football is about! He simply loved being a part of it and helped run two teams in his time at our club. 

The kids absolutely loved him. His knowledge of the game, 1 liners and even when he told them off!” 

Nick gave me the task of telling the under 11 white team when he had passed away and what he wanted me to tell them this from him. 

 ‘Never give up lads, I will be watching and supporting you. Whenever you score a goal look up and point because I am looking down and pointing at you with a smile on my face.’ 

Nick will be missed but never forgotten.” 
 
The club share their condolences and love to all of Nicks family and they will all be always part of the New Tupton Ivanhoe family.
